The Odisha government has introduced a new colour code for the buildings of all state-run schools.
In a directive issued by the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA), the Collectors of all 30 districts have been instructed to ensure that school buildings adhere to this new color scheme.
According to the new guidelines, the walls of school buildings will be painted in a shade of orange frost with orange tan borders during construction, repair, and renovation works. This updated color code will apply to all government schools as well as PM SHRI schools throughout Odisha.
OSEPA State Project Director, Ananya Das, emphasized the importance of uniformity in the appearance of school buildings. “It is requested to issue suitable instructions to concerned field functionaries for adoption of the approved color code in government schools, including PM SHRI schools, during construction, repair, and renovation work,” Das stated in the letter to district Collectors.
This new order supersedes all previous instructions related to the color code of school buildings.
It is noteworthy that in the previous year, the Odisha government had also introduced a change in the uniform color for Class-IX and Class-X students in government and aided schools. The new uniforms feature a combination of light brown, chocolate, and clay-baked yellow colors.
