The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), under the Department of School and Mass Education, Government of Odisha, organised a one-day review-cum-capacity building programme for Principals-in-Charge (I/C) of Government Upgraded Higher Secondary Schools.
The workshop took place at Krushi Bhavan and was aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and leadership skills among school heads.
The programme was inaugurated by Subhasree Nanda, Additional Secretary, School and Mass Education Department, who attended as the Chief Guest. In her address, she emphasised the critical role principals play in shaping the future of the nation and supporting the goal of a “Viksit Bharat.” She noted that through such workshops, school leaders could strengthen their knowledge base and contribute meaningfully to educational reforms.
Raghuram R. Iyer, Director, DHSE, welcomed the dignitaries and participating principals, outlining the objectives of the workshop. Sasmita Sahu, Joint Director of OSEPA, highlighted the importance of skill development and problem-solving approaches in school administration. Diptimayee Subhadarshini, Joint Director, Regional Directorate of Education, Bhubaneswar, provided guidance on the various technical and thematic sessions planned for the day.
Senior DHSE officials, including Snigdha Mishra and Sasmita Mali, were also present and interacted with the attendees.
Throughout the workshop, sessions were held on key areas of school governance, including:
- Examination management and result analysis
- Career counselling frameworks
- Scholarship implementation and e-admission processes
- Guest faculty engagement procedures
- Grant utilisation under Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI schemes
- UDISE data updates and APPAR ID generation
- Implementation of self-defence training for girl students
The initiative aligns with the state government’s efforts to build leadership capacity and ensure effective implementation of education policies at the grassroots level.
