The Odisha Government is forging ahead with its ambitious vision to develop ‘New Bhubaneswar’, a modern satellite city on the outskirts of the state capital.
The proposed township will span over 800 acres, covering Malipada, Dasapur, Andharua, and Gothapatna.
Housing & Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra announced that the master plan and design have been prepared by the Singapore Government, drawing inspiration from India’s Dholera SIR and GIFT City models. The new city will feature an IT park, healthcare facilities, residential and commercial zones, financial districts, and modern infrastructure with pedestrian-friendly spaces.
Industries will be prioritized to make New Bhubaneswar a hub for investment and economic growth. Principal Secretary Usha Padhee confirmed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR), currently being prepared with support from Singapore authorities, will be submitted within one to two months.
The initiative aligns with Odisha’s broader urban development goals, which include the expansion and modernization of Bhubaneswar to meet future demands.
