In a decisive move to uphold educational standards, the Odisha Government has pledged to deliver completely error-free textbooks to students of Classes I to VIII for the ongoing academic session 2026–27.
Addressing the media today, Dr. N. Thirumala Naik, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, School & Mass Education Department, assured that the government is treating the discovery of errors in the newly introduced textbooks with utmost seriousness. Following directives from the Hon’ble Chief Minister, a high-level committee chaired by the Development Commissioner was constituted to investigate the lapses and fix accountability.
“The Chief Minister has viewed this issue with grave concern and has instructed the department to ensure error-free textbooks reach every student at the earliest,” Dr. Naik said.
In a transparent and inclusive approach, the department is now thoroughly reviewing and verifying all identified errors with subject experts. The revised versions of the textbooks will soon be uploaded on the official website of the School & Mass Education Department and the OSEPA portal, inviting suggestions and feedback from academicians, teachers, and the general public.
Once feedback is incorporated and the final versions are ready, the corrected textbooks will be printed and distributed across the state. Until then, to ensure there is no disruption in classroom teaching, the department will share the corrected content directly with teachers.
The development comes as a relief for students and teachers who had raised concerns after the initial rollout of the textbooks at the start of the new academic year.
