The Odisha government has placed Smt. Madhusmita Singh, a senior Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer, under immediate suspension amid an impending disciplinary proceeding.
According to the official order by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department dated August 30, 2025, Smt. Singh, currently serving as Tahasildar of Jamada Tahasil in Mayurbhanj district, has been suspended under the powers conferred by Rule-12 of the Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules, 1962. She previously held the position of Executive Officer at Belpahar Municipality in Jharsuguda district.
The suspension is effective immediately, with Smt. Singh’s headquarters fixed at the Office of the Sub-Collector in Rairangpur during this period. The order explicitly states that she cannot leave the headquarters without prior permission from the Collector of Mayurbhanj. Additionally, she will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per Rule-90 of the Odisha Service Code.
While the exact nature of the disciplinary proceedings has not been detailed in the order, sources within the department indicate it may relate to administrative lapses during her tenure in Jharsuguda.
