Last month’s heavy rainfall, triggered by a low-pressure system, led to severe flooding in the Subarnarekha, Baitarani, and other rivers, causing widespread damage in Keonjhar, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, and Bhadrak districts.
The district collectors submitted detailed reports on the losses, prompting swift action from the state’s Revenue Department. Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari announced that financial assistance has been provided to the affected districts to compensate for the damages.
Balasore received ₹2,01,24,697, Jajpur ₹3,45,93,290, Mayurbhanj ₹67,48,148, Bhadrak ₹51,31,820, and Keonjhar ₹2,00,091, totaling ₹6,66,17,055 across the five districts.
The funds cover compensation for crop losses, water purification efforts, damaged homes, clothing, utensils, support for fishermen, and rescue operation expenses. District collectors have verified the bank accounts of the affected individuals to ensure transparent and efficient distribution of aid.
Minister Pujari emphasised the state’s commitment to supporting those impacted by the floods, ensuring timely relief and recovery measures.
