The Odisha government has launched a strict drive to recover pending land revenue and water cess as the financial year 2025-26 nears its end.
Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management, Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, directed all District Collectors to expedite collections and meet revenue targets without delay.
Dr Padhee emphasised the urgency of recovering arrears from land revenue (bhuraajyaswa) and irrigation water cess (jalakara). The Finance Department set ambitious goals of ₹980 crore from land revenue and ₹25.32 crore from water cess, forming a crucial part of the state’s non-tax revenue streams.
He instructed Revenue Divisional Commissioners to conduct weekly reviews, ensuring coordinated monitoring of progress. Collectors must remain vigilant, report regularly, and adopt proactive measures to achieve the prescribed figures.
The directive highlights Odisha’s focus on strengthening its internal revenue sources to minimise shortfalls. With the fiscal year closing soon, the government aims to secure the timely realisation of dues and reinforce financial discipline.
Officials across districts have been tasked with intensifying recovery drives, streamlining processes, and ensuring accountability. The move reflects the administration’s determination to meet budgeted targets and bolster the state’s financial resilience.
