In a major move toward enhancing road safety and cybersecurity, the Odisha government has officially launched a Traffic and Road Safety Wing (T&RSW) to regulate traffic and minimise accidents across the state.
The newly formed wing will function under the supervision of the Director General of Police (DGP) and will have its headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
The government has sanctioned 66 posts at the headquarters, while 1,930 positions will be filled across districts to strengthen traffic management and enforcement measures. Officials expect this initiative to bring substantial improvements in road discipline, reduce accidents, and ensure public safety on highways and urban streets.
Additionally, in response to the rising concerns over cybercrime, the state has announced the establishment of 20 new cyber police stations. These stations will serve as specialised units to investigate and combat digital threats, aiming to bolster cybersecurity and protect citizens from online fraud and cyber offences.
Government representatives expressed confidence that these initiatives will significantly improve public safety while paving the way for a more secure and regulated infrastructure in Odisha.
