The Odisha government has announced an increase in the price of eggs supplied to Anganwadi centers, raising the cost from Rs 5 to Rs 7 per egg.
This decision, aimed at enhancing the nutrition of children, was made by Deputy Chief Minister Parvati Parida, who oversees the Women and Child Development Department.
In her statement, Parida highlighted the importance of this move in ensuring the health and well-being of children attending Anganwadi centers. She expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for supporting the initiative, which will see the state government spending over Rs 175 crore 14 lakh annually to implement the new pricing.
The increase in the price of eggs is expected to have a significant positive impact on the nutritional intake of children in these centers, further supporting the government’s efforts in promoting child welfare and development.
