The Odisha government increased the official price of uniforms and shoes for Anganwadi children under the Malati Devi Prak Vidyalaya Yojana.
According to the revised rates, the cost of boys’ uniforms rose from Rs 100 to Rs 175, while girls’ uniforms increased from Rs 150 to Rs 225. Similarly, the price of shoes went up from Rs 100 to Rs 150. Officials stated that the hike aims to provide higher-quality uniforms and footwear for children enrolled in Anganwadi centres.
The decision will raise government expenditure on school uniforms and shoes, but authorities emphasised that the move ensures better standards and durability. Anganwadi children across the state will now receive improved clothing as part of the scheme.
