The Odisha government has transferred Rs 31.1 crore directly into the bank accounts of approximately one lakh farmers registered under OMFED (Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Ltd).
The incentives aim to alleviate financial strain during the lean season when milk production typically declines.
The payout, which was distributed through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, is calculated based on the farmers’ contributions to OMFED between September 2024 and February 2025. Incentives ranged between ₹1 to ₹5 per liter of milk supplied during this period.
Among the districts, Cuttack received the highest share at Rs 13 crore, followed by Balasore with ₹5 crore. Smaller disbursements were made in Sambalpur, Balangir-Kalahandi-Nuapada cluster, Puri, and Mayurbhanj, which received Rs 20 lakh, the lowest allocation.
OMFED Managing Director Vijay Amruta Kulange confirmed that the incentive program will continue next year to provide sustained financial backing for Odisha’s dairy farming sector.
