Bhubaneswar: A serious assault allegation has been levelled against Lalit Kumar, son of Odisha Governor Raghubar Das, by an Assistant Section Officer (ASO) working at the Raj Bhavan. The ASO alleged that the Governor’s son beat him up and split his face open during the overnight stay at Puri Raj Bhavan on July 7.
ASO Baikuntha Pradhan has filed a written complaint with the chief secretary to the governor, in which he mentioned that the governor’s son with five others beat him up while he was posted at Puri Raj Bhavan for the President’s two-day visit on July 7 and 8.
The complaint states that after the President’s visit on July 7, around 11:45 pm, Governor’s personal chef Akash Singh informed Pradhan that Lalit Kumar wanted to meet him. Upon arrival at Lalit’s room, Pradhan alleges that Lalit verbally abused him and then physically assaulted him when he objected. The ASO claims he attempted to flee and hide in the annexe room but was later brought back by Lalit’s personal security officers.
Pradhan’s complaint describes a prolonged assault involving slapping, kicking, and punching, which allegedly continued until 4:30 am. He quotes Kumar as saying, “No one can save you even if you get killed here.”
The ASO states that he filed the complaint to the principal secretary of the governor on the morning of July 8, seeking justice for the incident. However, as of now, no action has been taken, and there has been no official response from the secretary or the Raj Bhavan regarding the complaint.
As of now, neither Governor Raghubar Das nor his son Lalit Kumar have commented on these allegations.
