Bhubaneswar: In response to media reports of sex rackets operating in government-run colleges, the Higher Education department today clarified saying no such evidence was found.
“We wish to address the news circulating in certain electronic media on December 26, 2023, regarding Hinjilicut Science College, Hinjilicut. It is to state that after receipt of complain, Regional Director of Education, Berhampur along with some lady officers has enquired the same on 27.12.2023. The inquiry report affirms that there is not an iota of evidence on the allegations of the petition,” a press release issued by the department Commissioner-cum-Secretary in this regard mentioned.
“The Complain petition is also an anonymous one, and no such complainant was found. The Staff Council, Alumni Association, Teachers, students and ladies hostel inmates have denied all allegations. Apparently, the allegation is found to be baseless and is intended to malign the reputation of the educational institution,” the official communiqué stated.
It is pertinent to mention, a section of the media has reported that a sex racket was operating in the Science College (Autonomous), Hinjilicut.
