Odisha’s ambitions for global trade took centre stage at the World Trade Day & Members Meet 2025, hosted by the World Trade Centre (WTC) Bhubaneswar under the theme “Eastern India’s Economic Engine: Odisha’s Global Trade Vision.”
The event convened key stakeholders from industry, international partners, and public institutions to champion Odisha’s export-led development strategy.
The event was marked by the presentation of five prestigious awards that celebrated achievements in trade facilitation and entrepreneurship. Among the recipients, Palladium was honoured for its trailblazing contributions to building scalable Farmer-Producer Organisation (FPO)-led agri supply chains, rural market development, and inclusive export pathways. The company’s role under the PSFPO project—backed by the Gates Foundation and Department of Agriculture—was lauded for elevating Odisha’s agribusiness to global visibility.
In his keynote address, the Governor of Odisha, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, emphasised the need for equity-driven trade growth, drawing global parallels to Vietnam’s success and Odisha’s collaboration with the Dubai Chamber. He cited FPOs as emerging champions of grassroots export excellence.
Another major highlight was the felicitation of Saptasajya Agro Producer Company with the Small Business Global Trade Excellence Award, recognising its impactful contribution in bridging local produce with international markets.
Industry voices added momentum to the occasion:
- Dr. Vijay Kalantri, Chairman WTC Mumbai & Director WTC Bhubaneswar, noted, “World Trade Day catalyses vision and courageous trade commitments—placing Odisha at the forefront of India’s eastern economic rise.”
- Mr. Kamaljit Das, Joint Secretary, MSME Department, applauded Palladium’s grassroots interventions in capacity building and policy innovation that foster inclusive economic opportunities.
In a bold step toward knowledge leadership, WTC Bhubaneswar launched Think Tanks across priority sectors, including agriculture, tourism, innovation, smart cities, and women-led enterprises.
A curated exhibit and interactive networking spaces provided platforms for dialogue, collaboration, and strategy alignment among key players in Odisha’s evolving trade ecosystem.
With widespread participation from FPOs across the state and an enthusiastic recognition of grassroots contribution, World Trade Day 2025 reaffirms Odisha’s ascent as a regional trade powerhouse.
