The Odisha government formed a special committee for the Malkangiri district to address long-pending problems related to land and departmental issues.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi directed the formation of the committee, which will operate under the chairmanship of the Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary.

The committee consists of 16 members, including senior officials from multiple departments. Its primary objective is to monitor unresolved issues in Malkangiri and recommend suitable measures for resolution within a fixed timeframe. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department will act as the nodal department, coordinating with other departments to ensure effective implementation.

Members include senior officials from General Administration, Home, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Police, Water Resources, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Higher Education, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development, MSME, School and Mass Education, Revenue Division Commissioner (Southern Division) Berhampur, DIG Southern Range, and the district’s Collector and SP.

The committee will meet regularly to review progress and submit reports to the government every two months. It will study various issues in Malkangiri, including land disputes and administrative challenges, and provide recommendations for timely solutions.

Formerly neglected problems in the district will now receive structured attention through this panel. The government expects the committee to deliver practical solutions that strengthen governance and development in Malkangiri.
