Farmers in Odisha can now register themselves to sell paddy to the government during the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2025-26 by simply submitting a self-declaration form, Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra announced on Sunday.
“We have further simplified the registration process for farmers to participate in paddy procurement. They can now register by submitting a self-declaration form, which has already been distributed across all districts,” the minister said while briefing reporters.
The deadline for registration has also been extended from August 20 to August 25, and the process is expected to be completed by August 30, he added.
The move comes after several farmers faced difficulties in completing land registration due to delays in securing certain documents, including consent letters from legal heirs, co-sharers, and genealogy reports from revenue inspectors, an official explained.
To address this, the Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Department has circulated the self-declaration form to all district collectors to ensure smooth registration and guarantee that no eligible farmer is deprived of the benefits of the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
The paddy procurement process for the Kharif crop season will begin in the first week of November, the government confirmed.
