The Odisha government is facing a severe shortage of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, informed Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday in the assembly.

Shri Majhi said that 66 out of 248 sanctioned IAS positions are vacant in the state, with 22 officers on central deputation. Similarly, 69 out of 195 IPS posts remain unfilled, with 10 officers on central deputation for more than five years. This shortage may affect administrative efficiency and public order in the state, as highlighted by MLA Arun Sahoo.
