The Odisha Excise Department continued its aggressive Special Enforcement Drive with significant success on the fourth day, seizing contraband valued at Rs 1,14,62,974 during operations conducted on December 23, 2025.
In a coordinated statewide crackdown aimed at curbing illicit liquor distillation and narcotics trafficking, enforcement teams registered 239 cases, including four under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
A total of 134 individuals were arrested for violations, while 13 vehicles used in transporting the illegal goods were impounded.
The seized materials included 10,284 bulk litres of illicitly distilled (ID) liquor, 422 bulk litres of duty-paid liquor diverted for illegal use, 22 kg of bhang (cannabis), and a massive 81,600 bulk litres of fermented wash along with 4,130 kg of gur wash – key ingredients in illegal liquor production.
Additionally, authorities recovered 62 kg of ganja, highlighting the drive’s focus on dismantling drug networks.
