In a reassuring development for residents, Odisha’s Chief Secretary Anu Garg has confirmed that there is sufficient availability of cooking gas (LPG) and petroleum products like petrol and diesel across the state.
During a high-level meeting held today at the conference room of Lok Seva Bhawan, Garg reviewed the supply situation and urged the public not to panic.
The meeting, attended by Principal Secretary of the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department Sanjay Kumar Singh, along with senior officials from major oil marketing companies including Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), focused on ensuring uninterrupted distribution.
Discussions delved into the intricacies of the supply chain, from refineries and depots to LPG distributors and retail outlets. Representatives from the oil companies assured that there are no disruptions in delivering cooking gas, petrol, and diesel to consumers. They also emphasised that supplies to essential institutions such as schools and hospitals remain unaffected.
Chief Secretary Garg directed the oil companies to maintain a balanced and efficient supply chain to prevent any potential shortages. She stressed the importance of regular communication through various media channels to keep the public informed and build awareness. Additionally, the oil firms have been instructed to provide daily reports to the state’s Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, mirroring the details they submit to the central government.
This proactive step comes amid growing concerns over fuel availability, but state officials reiterated that Odisha is well-stocked, with no immediate cause for alarm.
