The Government of Odisha has announced a substantial revision to the material cost under the centrally sponsored PM POSHAN scheme, effective 1st May 2025.

According to an official notification issued by the School and Mass Education Department, the revised cost structure aims to improve nutrition among school children across the state.

The Government of India has revised the per-student, per-day cooking cost to ₹6.78 for Primary and ₹10.17 for Upper Primary school students. In addition to this central assistance, the Odisha government will continue to contribute ₹1.45 and ₹1.65, respectively,y for the two categories.

Going a step further, the state has decided to add another ₹2.92 per student per day across both groups to facilitate the inclusion of items like Nutritional Laddoos and an additional egg, intended to boost protein intake and dietary diversity.

With this, the total material cost per child per day now stands at ₹11.15 for Primary and ₹14.74 for Upper Primary students. The revised figures reflect Odisha’s commitment to child nutrition and educational support, especially in rural and marginalised communities.
