Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) has made significant strides in promoting employee well-being and community involvement with the laying of the foundation stone for the “OPTCL Sports Arena.”
This modern, multi-sport facility is designed to enhance health, recreation, and athletic performance.
The foundation stone for this landmark project was laid on October 23, 2025, by Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha for Energy and Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment. Suryabanshi Suraj, Minister for Sports & Youth Services, Higher Education, and Odia Language, Literature & Culture, joined him.
The project, which has a budget of Rs 15 crore and is entirely funded through OPTCL’s internal resources, will transform a part of the OPTCL Colony at Bhoinagar, Unit-9, Bhubaneswar, into a comprehensive sports complex covering an area of 8,225 square meters (2.03 acres). The OPTCL Sports Arena will include a badminton court, tennis court, volleyball court, an Olympic-standard swimming pool, jogging track, landscaped green areas, advanced lighting systems, security surveillance, and comfortable seating arrangements for recreation and fitness activities.
During the event, Dy CM Singh Deo stated that the OPTCL Sports Arena symbolises the commitment to fostering the holistic well-being of employees within Odisha’s power sector, while also extending health benefits to the wider community. This initiative underscores the belief that a healthy workforce is foundational to a productive and motivated organisation.
As a key player in Odisha’s power sector, OPTCL is dedicated to strengthening the state’s transmission network while promoting employee welfare and work-life balance.
