Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, made a one-day visit to Cuttack district to oversee the progress of developmental projects and finalise preparations for the upcoming district-level Nari Shakti Conclave, set to take place on June 13 at the Bali Yatra Ground.
During a comprehensive review meeting, Dy CM Singh Deo engaged with senior officials to evaluate the implementation of various Central and State Government welfare initiatives. Expressing satisfaction with the progress, he urged officials to maintain momentum to ensure timely completion. Key projects under scrutiny included the SCB Medical College & Hospital, Chandi Temple, Utkala Gouraba Madhusudan Das’ birthplace in Satyabhamapur, Tarakashi Hub, and the Mahanadi Riverfront Development Project. These initiatives reflect Cuttack’s blend of cultural preservation and modern development.
The Deputy CM also focused on law and order, with Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Khilari Rishikesh Dyanadeo providing an overview of Cuttack city’s security situation. Superintendent of Police (SP) Prateek Singh detailed the strategic use of CCTV cameras across the district to control crime, a measure that has significantly enhanced public safety.
Officials from multiple departments, including Revenue and Disaster Management, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Horticulture, Fisheries and Animal Resources, Health and Family Welfare, Energy, and Industry, presented updates on their respective sectors.
Singh Deo emphasised the need for training programs for farmers and officials to boost agricultural productivity, promote organic farming, fill vacant doctor positions, improve urban infrastructure, and enhance cleanliness initiatives.
The Deputy CM also reviewed the renovated Sahid Bhawan and Barabati Food Court, directing officials to expedite their public opening. These projects are expected to enhance Cuttack’s cultural and culinary landscape.
In the forenoon, Shri Singh Deo chaired a preparatory meeting for the Nari Shakti Conclave, stressing the importance of meticulous planning to ensure its success. The event aims to celebrate and empower women, aligning with the state’s broader vision of gender equality and social progress. Attendees included local MLAs, district officials, and representatives from Mission Shakti and the Women and Child Development Department.
The review meeting saw the participation of prominent figures, including Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Souvic Biswal, Cuttack Sadar MLA Er. Prakash Chandra Sethi, Barabati-Cuttack MLA Er. Sofia Firdous, Niali MLA Chhabi Mallik, District Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde, and Cuttack Municipal Corporation Commissioner Anam Charan Patra, among others. Their collective efforts underscored a unified approach to Cuttack’s development.
Dy CM Singh Deo’s visit reaffirmed the Odisha government’s dedication to holistic development, with a focus on welfare, security, and women’s empowerment.
