Odisha took another step toward its vision of Viksit Odisha @ 2036 as Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Pravati Parida inaugurated the Panchatatwa Park and launched the SUPOSHIT Odisha Mission (SOM) at the State Institute for Women & Children (SIWC).
She also laid the foundation stone for the Subhadra Resource Centre, reaffirming the government’s commitment to women and child welfare.
Smt. Parida urged citizens to join the fight against malnutrition by celebrating personal milestones—such as birthdays—through fruit distribution at Anganwadi centres. She emphasised that the battle against malnutrition begins at home, with mothers empowered to use locally available nutritious food instead of processed alternatives.
Key Highlights of the Day:
- Panchatatwa Park: Based on the five elements of nature, the park features an acupressure path and an open-air gym to connect women and children with nature.
- Subhadra Sadhana Kendra: With an investment of Rs 35.70 crore, the centre will house a modern 400-seater auditorium, Toy Museum, and Cafeteria, serving as a hub for capacity building, research, and policy initiatives.
- Suposhit Odisha Mission Workshop: The two-day workshop focuses on strengthening Anganwadi workers. Centres free of malnutrition will be declared SUPOSHIT, with workers receiving public recognition. A dashboard will track real-time progress across the state.
- Revision in Cost Norms: Under the Malati Devi Prak Vidyalaya Paridhan Yojana, allocations for uniforms and winter wear have been revised: boys’ uniforms from Rs 100 to Rs 175, girls’ uniforms from Rs 150 to Rs 225, shoes and socks from Rs 100 to Rs 150, and sweaters from Rs 150 to Rs 200. Over 14.76 lakh children across 74,224 centres will benefit.
The event concluded with a pledge led by the Deputy CM for a “Non-Malnutrition Free Odisha,” symbolising collective responsibility for child health and welfare.
