In response to the tense situation after the Delhi car blast, a high-level review meeting was convened today at the State Police Headquarters in Cuttack, chaired by Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania.
The meeting aimed to bolster security across the state and ensure readiness to handle any potential challenges, prioritising the safety of Odisha’s residents.
During the session, DGP Khurania issued directives to senior police officers to further strengthen security protocols and remain vigilant against any untoward incidents. Emphasising proactive measures, he stressed the need for enhanced preparedness throughout the state.
As part of these efforts, DGP Khurania conducted an on-site visit to the Bali Yatra venue in Cuttack later in the evening. With crowds exceeding lakhs of people at the event, he meticulously reviewed the security arrangements in place. He held detailed discussions with deployed senior officers to eliminate any gaps or lapses in public safety protocols and instructed them to implement all necessary steps to safeguard attendees.
The DGP highlighted the importance of intensifying patrols in high-traffic areas, including public gathering spots, markets, railway stations, bus terminals, religious sites, and other sensitive zones. He also directed the activation of CCTV surveillance, thorough checks for explosive materials, monitoring of suspicious travellers, and the collection of intelligence inputs. Additionally, he urged the public to report any suspicious individuals or objects immediately to the nearest police station or by dialling 112.
Khurrania underscored the adoption of precautionary actions to guarantee public safety and instructed senior officers to be fully equipped to address any emerging scenarios. He appealed to citizens to extend active cooperation to the police administration in maintaining law and order.
The meeting was attended by Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar and Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Prateek Mohanty. Virtually, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner, various Range Inspectors General (IGs), Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), and all district Superintendents of Police (SPs) participated.
