On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the distribution of the second installment of Subhadra Yojana funds to 1.64 crore women beneficiaries.
The funds will be directly transferred to their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The ceremony, held at Vivek Vihar in Berhampur, marks a significant step towards women’s empowerment in the state. In the first installment, over ₹5,032 crore was disbursed to 1.64 crore women in five phases. Beneficiaries who received ₹5,000 in the first installment will receive another ₹5,000 in the second installment.
Chief Minister Majhi expressed his commitment to the welfare of women, stating, “The Subhadra Yojana is a testament to our government’s dedication to uplifting women and ensuring their financial independence.”
Eligible beneficiaries who missed the first installment can apply or be identified through a house-to-house survey. They will receive three installments at once during the next Raksha Bandhan festival, totaling ₹15,000. Deputy Chief Minister Parvati Parida, overseeing the Women and Child Development Department, mentioned that new beneficiaries aged 21 and above can be included in the scheme, while those turning 60 will be excluded and given the old age allowance.
The Subhadra Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, continues to make strides in empowering women across Odisha. The initiative aims to provide financial stability and support to women, ensuring their growth and development.
