Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today conducted a comprehensive review of the state’s law and order situation at Lok Seva Bhawan, issuing firm directives to the police administration to maintain a strict watch on anti-social individuals, troublemakers, and other suspicious persons across all regions.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasised that Odisha, known for its peaceful ethos, is facing attempts by certain motivated groups to tarnish its image. He stressed the need for a strong hand in suppressing such elements and instructed senior police officials to keep a vigilant eye on them to prevent any disruptions.

The review also covered the recent incidents in Cuttack, where the situation has returned to near normalcy. Officials informed that the curfew has been lifted and internet services have been restored. However, CM Majhi cautioned that despite the improvement, police must remain on high alert and avoid any complacency. He directed the continued deployment of forces in sensitive areas along with regular patrolling to ensure stability.

To foster social harmony in the ‘City of Brotherhood’—as Cuttack is often called—the Chief Minister Mohan Majhi advised police officials to sustain dialogues with leaders from various communities. He recalled his earlier appeal to Cuttack residents to help restore peace and order in the city.

Additionally, expressing deep sorrow over the murder of prominent lawyer and social worker, the late Pitabas Panda in Berhampur, CM Majhi ordered an immediate investigation to track down the perpetrators. He emphasised that the culprits must be brought to justice and receive exemplary punishment to deter future crimes.

The meeting was attended by CM’s Office Advisor Prakash Mishra, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Satyabrata Sahu, Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sashwat Mishra, and other senior police officers.
