The high-level meeting on the Ratna Bhandar of the Sri Jagannath Temple concluded today with key decisions regarding the inventory and valuation (Ganati-Manati) of the temple treasury. The meeting was chaired by Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Minister of Odisha, at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

According to official sources, the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the counting, verification, and valuation of ornaments stored in the Ratna Bhandar was reviewed in detail. The government is expected to formally approve the SOP, clearing the way for the long-awaited inventory process to commence soon.

Inventory Date Likely to Be Announced Shortly

Senior officials, including the State Law Minister, Chief Secretary, and the Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), attended the meeting. Discussions focused on ensuring transparency, security arrangements, documentation protocols, and adherence to judicial directives.

Sources indicated that the date for the inventory process will be finalised shortly after administrative formalities are completed.

Compliance with High Court Directions

The move comes in line with earlier directions issued by the Orissa High Court, which had instructed the state government to complete the inventory and verification of valuables within a stipulated timeframe. The court had also directed that matters related to the inquiry into the missing keys of the Ratna Bhandar be placed before the State Legislative Assembly.

Emphasis on Heritage Conservation

The Ratna Bhandar, which preserves centuries-old ornaments and valuables of Lord Jagannath and sibling deities, holds immense religious, cultural, and historical significance. The state government reiterated its commitment to conducting the process in a secure, transparent, and time-bound manner, ensuring the protection of temple heritage.

Further official announcements are expected in the coming days regarding the commencement schedule.
