Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will take part in the grand ‘Ekta Marathon’ to be held in Balasore district on November 13, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, fondly known as the Iron Man of India.
The announcement was made by Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, who said the Chief Minister’s participation reflects Odisha’s commitment to promoting the ideals of unity, integrity, and brotherhood across communities.
A Marathon Celebrating National Unity
The marathon will begin from Nilagiri and conclude at Mitrapur, symbolizing a journey of unity and strength inspired by Sardar Patel’s historic contribution to integrating India.
“The Chief Minister will join the unity run from Nilagiri to Mitrapur. The event celebrates national integration and collective pride in India’s diversity,” said MP Sarangi.
The Ekta Marathon 2025 is expected to draw hundreds of participants, including youth groups, local athletes, and citizens from various walks of life. The event’s theme centers on “Run for Unity”, reflecting the spirit of Sardar Patel’s vision of a united and inclusive India.
Events Across Balasore District
In addition to the main marathon, parallel unity runs will be organized at Bhograi and Balasore town on the same day. These events will feature cultural performances, awareness campaigns, and community participation to promote the message of peace and togetherness.
The district administration, along with local leaders and youth organizations, has been actively preparing to ensure smooth logistics, safety, and active participation throughout the district.
Honouring the Legacy of the Iron Man of India
The celebration aligns with the nationwide commemorations of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, honoring his pivotal role in unifying the princely states and laying the foundation for a strong, independent India. The ‘Ekta Marathon’ aims to rekindle those values of determination, inclusivity, and patriotism among the younger generation.
