Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday joined the 300th State-Level Jayanti Celebration of Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar at Jayadev Bhawan, paying glowing tributes to the legendary queen and social reformer.
“Ahilyabai Holkar was not just a ruler but a symbol of justice, courage, and dedication to public welfare. Her life continues to inspire generations,” said the Chief Minister. He emphasized that the ideals of Ahilyabai—women empowerment, education, and good governance—are reflected in the Odisha government’s current developmental policies.
He noted that schemes like Subhadra Yojana, launched by the state, aim to economically and socially empower women, aligning with the legacy of Ahilyabai Holkar.
Highlighting India’s strong leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CM referenced the recent ‘Operation Sindoor’, hailing it as a symbol of women’s power in national security. “Just like Savitri fought for her husband’s life, women today are leading from the front in the defense of our nation,” he said.
Key dignitaries at the event included Speaker Surama Padhy, Deputy CM Pravati Parida, Higher Education Minister Surya Banshi Suraj, and former MP Saroj Pandey. The event also witnessed the launch of an Odia book titled “Karmayogini Punyashloka Ahilyabai Holkar”, highlighting her inspiring journey.
The CM concluded by calling for collective action inspired by Ahilyabai’s life to build a stronger and more equitable Odisha.
