Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has extended an invitation to Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik for a state-level celebration of Biju Patnaik’s birth anniversary tomorrow at Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
The invitation comes amidst backlash from the opposition over the recent government decision to delink Biju Patnaik’s birth anniversary from Panchayati Raj Day. The state government has also cancelled the public holiday associated with March 5, declaring that it will no longer be celebrated as Panchayati Raj Diwas.
Opposition BJD leader Pramila Mallick criticized the move, calling it an insult to both Biju Patnaik and the people of Odisha. She accused the BJP government of trying to erase the legacy of the great leader.
The event will be held at 7 PM on March 5, featuring Naveen Patnaik, the son of the legendary leader Biju Patnaik, as the chief guest to enhance the occasion’s significance.
This state-level function is expected to attract prominent political leaders, bureaucrats, and citizens, all coming together to pay tribute to Biju Patnaik’s remarkable legacy.
