Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the newly constructed office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Bhubaneswar Urban Police today, marking a significant step toward strengthening the city’s law enforcement infrastructure.
Spanning 2,272 square meters, the four-storey building, constructed at Rs 7.8 crore, is equipped with modern facilities to enhance public service delivery. The state-of-the-art office features ramps for differently-abled individuals, a cyber cell, CCTNS room, integrated control room, legal cell, passport section, conference hall, and training hall.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister emphasised that the new facility will enable the police to provide efficient and timely services to the public. “This modern building will empower our police force to serve the people with greater effectiveness, ensuring a robust law enforcement system,” he said.
In a parallel initiative to bolster police mobility, Chief Minister Majhi distributed 425 two-wheelers to investigating officers under the Commissionerate Police, covering various police stations in Bhubaneswar. He announced that additional four-wheelers have also been arranged for police stations across the state to enhance operational efficiency. “The use of technology in criminal investigations will be supported to ensure swift and accurate outcomes,” he added.
Reflecting on recent achievements, the Chief Minister noted that 14 new police stations were inaugurated across Odisha in March at Rs 42 crore. He commended the Odisha Police for maintaining law and order impartially, stating that the state’s law and order situation has been satisfactory over the past year, earning praise from the Central Government.
The event was attended by Ekamra-Bhubaneswar MLA Babu Singh, Bhubaneswar Central MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, Bhubaneswar North MLA Susant Kumar Rout, BMC Mayor Sulochana Das, Chief Minister’s Advisor Prakash Mishra, Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania, Police Commissioner Dr. Suresh Dev Datta Singh, Additional Police Commissioner Narasingha Bhol, DCP Bhubaneswar Jagmohan Meena, and other senior police officials.
This dual initiative of infrastructure development and resource allocation underscores the Odisha government’s commitment to modernising its police force and ensuring public safety for its citizens.
