Odisha CM Discusses KIIT Incident with Nepali Counsellors, Assures Justice

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held discussions with Nepali counsellors Sanjeeb Das Sharma and Navin Raj Adhikari regarding the suicide of a Nepali student at KIIT University.


He assured them that justice will be done and peace and normalcy will be restored on the KIIT campus.

The Chief Minister urged Nepali students to return to the campus and continue their studies.

A high-level meeting was held at the State Secretariat with delegates from Nepal, attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Higher Education Minister Suryavanshi Suraj, and Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja. They discussed steps to restore normalcy at KIIT University.

Higher Education Minister Suryavanshi Suraj held talks with Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba regarding the situation.

A law and order situation was created at KIIT University following the suicide of a Nepalese student. The university authorities have stated that normalcy has returned to the campus.

The government has formed a high-level fact-finding team to investigate the incident and submit a report. The team includes the additional chief secretary of the home department, the principal secretary of the women and child development department, and the secretary of the higher education department.

Three directors and two security personnel of KIIT University have been arrested in connection with the incident.
