CyBhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed Minister of State for Energy, Industry, MSME and Home (s) Dibyashankar Mishra to reach Balasore today to monitor the “Cyclone Yaas” situation here.
Keeping in view the impending Cyclone Yaas and it’s expected landfall at Balasore, the Odisha CM ordered Mishra to reach the district and set up up a camp.
Mishra had earlier reviewed the preparedness of OPTCL and DISCOMs for cyclone ‘YAAS’. While taking stock of the situation, Mishra was briefed about the advance steps taken by TP Central Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPCODL) and TP Northern Odisha Distribution Ltd The (TPNODL) regarding the arrangement of manpower, material, equipment & machinery etc.
Severe Cyclonic Storm Yaas over east central Bay of Bengal is likely to reach northwest Bay of Bengal near north Odisha and West Bengal coasts very close to Chandbali-Dhamra port by the early morning of May 26, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The state governments are already on alert with the Indian Coast Guard mobilizing the forces and urging the people to not venture out in the sea.
