Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has announced the establishment of a government degree college in Jagatsinghpur district, addressing a long-standing demand in the region.
The announcement was made during the Zilla Mahotsav ‘Kallol’.
Despite boasting high literacy rates, the district lacked a government degree college. The Chief Minister assured the residents that the college would be operational this year, emphasizing the government’s commitment to education.
Additionally, CM Majhi revealed plans for a textile park in Tirtol, aiming to boost economic development and create job opportunities in the region. Highlighting Jagatsinghpur’s rich culture and history, the CM also called for public support to restore the Alaka river, which faces challenges such as pollution and encroachments.
The CM paid tribute to local icons like Sarala Das, Pran Krushna Parija, and Pratibha Ray for their contributions to Odia culture and heritage. These initiatives underscore the government’s focus on regional development and cultural preservation.
