Gautam Adani, the prominent industrialist and Chairman of the Adani Group, held a courtesy meeting with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the State Guest House today, according to the CMO.
The discussion centred on accelerating Odisha’s industrial development, with a strong emphasis on port-based industries, green energy, renewable energy production, and the establishment of a coal gasification plant.
The meeting comes in the wake of the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave, where the state government, under CM Majhi’s leadership, has prioritized rapid industrial growth. A key highlight of the discussion was the development of Gopalpur Port, where the Adani Group has committed an investment of ₹16,554 crore. This ambitious project aims to enhance the port’s cargo handling capacity to 50 million metric tonnes, creating approximately 5,000 job opportunities for the state.
The Gopalpur Port development follows a recent concession agreement signed by the state government, signalling Odisha’s intent to strengthen its position as a hub for industrial and economic growth. The focus on green energy and renewable energy projects aligns with global sustainability goals, positioning Odisha as a leader in eco-friendly industrial initiatives.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department, Hemant Sharma.
The collaboration between the Odisha government and the Adani Group is expected to pave the way for transformative industrial progress, fostering economic growth and employment in the state.
