A high-level meeting, chaired by the Principal Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department, Usha Padhee, was held today at Kharavela Bhawan to deliberate on the establishment of a world-class Shri Jagannath Museum, Library, and Cultural Research Centre in Puri.
The meeting focused on drafting a coordinated roadmap to guide the project, which will be presented to the appropriate authorities for further action. Padhee emphasised the importance of preserving Puri’s spiritual and cultural heritage while enhancing urban infrastructure. “Our goal is to honour Puri’s sanctity and promote its rich heritage in alignment with the vision of a developed Odisha,” she stated.
The initiative aligns with the state government’s broader agenda to promote cultural pride, heritage conservation, and urban transformation.
The meeting resolved to prepare a detailed project plan for submission to higher authorities. Key stakeholders, including Tourism Secretary Balwant Singh, Secretary OL&C Dr. Bijay Ketan Upadhyaya, Municipal Director Shri Arindam Dakua, Puri Collector Divyajyoti Parida, MD OBCC Samir Hota, Administrator (Development) SJTA Debabrata Sahu, Special Secretary OL&C Debaprasad Das, Additional Secretary Law Department Siba Prasad Mishra, and Joint Secretary Revenue Department Pradeep Kumar Sahu, participated in the discussions.
This ambitious project aims to position Puri as a global hub for cultural and spiritual tourism, showcasing the legacy of Lord Jagannath while fostering research and education.
