Today marks the annual celebration of “Dahibara Aloodum Dibasa,” a day dedicated to Odisha’s iconic street food, Dahibara Aloodum.
This quintessential dish originated in Cuttack and has gained national recognition since winning an award at the National Street Food Festival in New Delhi in 2020.
The celebration began in 2019 and was initiated by a group of young food enthusiasts from Odisha. Dahibara Aloodum, a unique blend of dahibara (deep-fried balls of black gram batter soaked in yogurt) and aloodum (spicy potato curry), is also garnished with ghuguni (peas curry), onions, coriander, cucumber, chutney, and sev.
This beloved dish holds a special place in the hearts of Odias and has recently garnered attention from prominent figures such as businessman Harsh Goenka and chef Vikas Khanna. Their endorsements have helped Dahibara Aloodum gain popularity beyond Odisha, creating a buzz among food lovers nationwide.
