In a significant career transition, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has officially approved the deputation of Ms. Sagarika Nath, IPS (Odisha Cadre: 2016), to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) as Superintendent of Police.
The appointment, confirmed by a formal MHA communication dated July 31, 2025, fills an existing vacancy under central deputation norms.
The directive has been sent to the Chief Secretary of Odisha, urging immediate relief of the officer to enable her assumption of duties at NIA headquarters. Copies have also been forwarded to the DGP Odisha, NIA administrative wing, and associated ministry officials, who are expected to furnish her joining date promptly.
Ms. Nath’s track record of service excellence and prior roles in crime investigation, coastal security, and counter-insurgency make her a strong asset to India’s premier counter-terrorism agency.
This central posting underlines Odisha’s growing footprint in national security leadership.
