In a significant development, two distinguished 1994-batch IAS officers from the Odisha cadre, Santosh Sarangi and Ranjana Chopra, have been empanelled to hold Secretary or Secretary equivalent posts at the Centre.
This marks a notable milestone in their illustrious careers in the Indian Administrative Service.
Santosh Sarangi, who currently serves as the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), has been recognized for his dedication and substantial contributions to the Indian export sector. He took charge as DGFT on 24 January 2022 and has been instrumental in driving export growth over the past four years. The Department of Personnel & Training (DOPT) officially announced his promotion on 6 March.
Ranjana Chopra, another accomplished officer from the same batch, has also been elevated to the rank of Secretary. She is presently serving as the Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor (AS & FA) in the Ministry of Culture. Known for her strategic expertise and administrative acumen, Chopra’s promotion is a testament to her exceptional service in various capacities within the government.
Both officers have extensive experience and have held pivotal positions in their respective domains, earning accolades for their integrity and hard work. The empanelment of Sarangi and Chopra to Secretary level positions underscores the trust and confidence placed in their leadership by the government.
