The Odisha government announced an increased pension allowance under its social security scheme. This decision was made during a cabinet meeting held on Friday.
Under the new guidelines, the pension allowance has been raised for individuals aged 80 years and above, as well as for those with 80% disability. The monthly pension for these categories has now been set at Rs 3,500, up from the previous amount of Rs 1,200.
“State Cabinet has approved the proposal to enhance the pension amount of the eligible pensioners aged 80 years and above or PwDs having disability percentage of 80% and above under both Madhu Babu Pension Yojana and National Social Assistance Programme to Rs. 3500/- per month with effect from January 2025,” a press brief from the government stated.
