The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, is marking its first year in office with a 14-day public outreach program from June 8 to June 21.

This ambitious initiative aims to showcase the government’s achievements in service, governance, and development while fostering stronger connections with the people of Odisha through a series of district and state-level events.

The program kicked off on June 8 with Chief Minister Majhi holding a consultation meeting with industry representatives, followed by discussions with MPs and MLAs at the Lok Seva Bhawan conference hall in Bhubaneswar. On June 9, a press conference is organised to brief the media about the anniversary celebrations, highlighting the government’s commitment to transparency and public engagement.

A key highlight of the program is a national seminar on ‘Viksit Odisha 2036 and 2047,’ scheduled for June 10 at Lok Seva Bhawan, focusing on Odisha’s long-term development vision. On June 11, the Chief Minister will visit Puri to offer prayers at the revered Jagannath Temple, symbolising the government’s respect for Odisha’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

The anniversary day, June 12, will be packed with significant events. At 8 AM, Chief Minister Majhi will flag off 12 ‘Vikas Vahan’ (development vehicles) and 100 e-buses on Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar, signalling the government’s push for sustainable development and modern infrastructure. Later that day, the Chief Minister will engage with intellectuals, voluntary organisations, and stakeholders in a consultation meeting. In the evening, a state-level ‘Vikas Mela’ (development fair) and food festival will be inaugurated, showcasing Odisha’s progress and culinary diversity.

From June 12 to 18, a series of cultural events will celebrate Odisha’s rich heritage. A drama series based on the lives of Odisha’s luminaries will be staged at Rabindra Mandap, while Odia film screenings will be held at Jaydev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, as well as in Berhampur, Sambalpur, and Rourkela. Musical tributes to legendary Odia singers and a Sambalpuri music evening will further enrich the cultural offerings. Additionally, a ‘Vision Odisha 2036’ artists’ camp at Kalinga Art Gallery and the state-level Raja Mahotsav will add vibrancy to the celebrations.

The program also includes community-focused events across Odisha. On June 13, a ‘Nari Shakti Conclave’ (Women’s Empowerment Meet) will be held in Cuttack, followed by a ‘Krushak Shakti Conclave’ (Farmers’ Empowerment Meet) in Bolangir on June 17, and an ‘Adivasi Shakti Conclave’ (Tribal Empowerment Meet) in Baripada on June 18. A state-level program in the presence of the Prime Minister on June 20 will be a major highlight, underscoring the central government’s support for Odisha’s development. The celebrations will conclude on June 21 with the International Yoga Day at Kalinga Stadium and a ‘Yuva Shakti Conclave’ (Youth Empowerment Meet) in Berhampur.

Through the Public Outreach Program, the BJP government aims to strengthen its bond with the people of Odisha, highlighting its achievements and laying the foundation for a prosperous future. The diverse range of events reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive growth, cultural preservation, and public participation in Odisha’s development journey.
