Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved a significant salary hike for contractual AYUSH doctors working under the National Health Mission (NHM) in Odisha.
The decision recognises their contribution to the state’s healthcare system and aims to motivate them further.
According to the new structure, AYUSH doctors will receive salary increments based on years of service:
- Less than 5 years of service: Rs 20,000 increase, raising minimum salary to Rs 56,948
- 5–10 years of service: Rs 25,000 increase, salary now Rs 74,467
- 10–15 years of service: Rs 30,000 increase, salary now Rs 80,467
- Above 15 years of service: Rs 40,000 increase, salary now Rs 91,467
Currently, Odisha has 2,912 AYUSH doctors employed under NHM. The hike will cost the state government an additional Rs 1 crore annually.
Majhi said the move will strengthen AYUSH healthcare services across the state and ensure better delivery of medical support to citizens. He expressed confidence that the decision will bring further improvement in Odisha’s health sector.
