The Monsoon Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly is set to commence on September 18 and will continue till September 25, spanning seven working days.
The announcement was officially released by the Speaker’s office, confirming the schedule and agenda.
This session is expected to be politically charged, with opposition parties—primarily the BJD and Congress—preparing to confront the government on multiple fronts. Key issues likely to dominate the floor include the death of an FM College student, the Bolangir student burning case, the Gopalpur gang rape incident, and the ongoing Mahanadi water dispute.
Other topics slated for discussion include compensation for flood victims, the conduct of student union elections, the Polavaram project, and the alleged question paper leak in the OTET examination. These matters are anticipated to spark intense debates between ruling and opposition members.
Meanwhile, the state government is expected to table several significant bills during the session, aiming to push forward key legislative reforms.
With both sides bracing for a showdown, the Monsoon Session promises to be a dynamic and consequential chapter in Odisha’s legislative calendar.
