The budget session in the Odisha Assembly witnessed chaos and commotion as opposition parties stormed the well of the House, demanding attention to various issues.
Speaker Surama Padhy was compelled to adjourn the Assembly proceedings twice, first till noon and later till 4 p.m., in an attempt to restore order.
As the session began, members of the Congress and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) created a ruckus, leading to a disruption in the scheduled discussions. The Speaker’s efforts to bring the situation under control proved futile, resulting in repeated adjournments.
During the Budget Session, chaos ensued as opposition Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) gathered beneath the Speaker’s podium to protest. They were demanding a platform to express their grievances on pressing issues they claimed were being ignored. Despite the Speaker’s appeals for decorum and constructive engagement, the uproar continued for a significant duration, reflecting the intensity of the political disagreements in the House.
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) expressed their discontent over the decision to delink Panchayati Raj Diwas from Biju Patnaik’s birth anniversary on March 5 and move it to April 24. Meanwhile, the Congress party created a loud uproar over the alleged growing atrocities on women in the state.
