The Odisha Assembly was adjourned till 12:09 pm today following disruptions created by Opposition MLAs.
The chaos erupted shortly after the House convened, with Opposition members vociferously protesting, thereby hindering the scheduled proceedings. Unable to restore order, Speaker Surama Padhy declared the adjournment.
During the Session, chaos ensued as opposition Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) gathered beneath the Speaker’s podium to protest. They were demanding a platform to express their grievances on pressing issues they claimed were being ignored. Despite the Speaker’s appeals for decorum and constructive engagement, the uproar continued for a significant duration, reflecting the intensity of the political disagreements in the House.
Congress MLAs were shouting slogans and holding placards from the very start, causing a ruckus during the question period. Their main concern was the issue of women’s harassment in the state. This kind of disruption can really impact the flow of the session and make it difficult to address other important matters.
