The Odisha government has approved the creation of 247 new positions in the State Forensic Science Services Organisation as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen forensic capabilities across the state.
According to an official notification issued by the Home Department, the newly sanctioned posts will include pay, dearness allowance, and other benefits as per the state government’s guidelines.

Recruitment to these regular posts will follow transparent procedures, in accordance with the Odisha Reservation of Vacancies (ORV) Act and other relevant recruitment norms.
Mobile Forensic Vans Approved:
In a parallel move to enhance forensic infrastructure, the Home Department has also cleared a proposal from the State Police Headquarters to procure 36 mobile forensic vans under the modernisation of forensic capabilities scheme.
These specialized vehicles will be sourced from the National Forensic Sciences University, contingent on the availability of funds from the Government of India, as mentioned in the department’s official communication.
This dual initiative marks a major step toward improving scientific investigation and forensic services in Odisha.
