A significant step towards resolving the long-standing Mahanadi water dispute was taken when Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi hosted Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at Lokseva Bhavan on Saturday.
During the courtesy meeting, the two leaders discussed various issues, focusing on the amicable resolution of the Mahanadi water-sharing conflict.
Both Chief Ministers emphasized the historical and cultural ties between the states and expressed the necessity for a balanced solution in the interests of their respective citizens.
CM Majhi advocated for mutual understanding and cooperation, highlighting the shared responsibility of neighboring states.
Sai reciprocated with a positive stance, voicing his support for an equitable resolution. A joint mechanism is expected to be established to expedite the negotiation process.
With mutual goodwill, the states aim to strengthen inter-state relations and address key concerns that impact the lives of millions dependent on the Mahanadi River.
