In a significant development for higher education in Odisha, the state government has granted 40 acres of land for the expansion of Dharanidhar University in Keonjhar.
This move paves the way for the establishment of northern and southern campuses, further solidifying the university’s educational footprint in the region.
The Odisha Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, approved the allocation of 197 decimal government land under a lease agreement. Notably, the government has waived a one-time revenue fee of ₹140.71 crore and an annual revenue fee of ₹50.26 lakh, ensuring financial ease for the university’s infrastructure development.
The expansion of Dharanidhar University will not only enhance academic opportunities but also contribute to the overall socio-economic development of Keonjhar district. The decision reflects the state’s commitment to fostering quality education and improving institutional facilities for students.
This initiative is expected to reduce financial burdens on the university while encouraging enrollment growth and attracting faculty expertise from across the country.
