A tragic road accident in Keonjhar district claimed the life of renowned Odia jatra villain Kahnu Charan Swain.
The mishap occurred on the Hatadihi–Mareigaon road when Swain’s scooter collided head‑on with a highway truck. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Anandpur Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
News of his sudden demise spread quickly, sending shockwaves through the jatra fraternity and among theatre lovers. Swain had earned a special place in the hearts of audiences for his powerful villainous roles, which made him one of the most recognisable faces in Odia jatra.
Local residents and fans gathered outside the hospital to pay their respects, reflecting the deep impact of his passing. Police reached the accident site and began an investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
