A 23‑year‑old woman was found hanging inside her rented house in the Shri Ram Nagar area in Sundaragada district.
The deceased, identified as Sushmita Tirkey of Subdega locality, was working as a nurse at Shanti Lata Hospital. Preliminary information suggests she may have taken her own life by hanging herself with a scarf.
Town police reached the spot soon after being informed and began an investigation. The body was seized and sent to Sundaragada District Headquarters Hospital for post‑mortem.
The reason behind Sushmita’s extreme step remains unclear. Police said the exact cause of death will be known only after the autopsy report and detailed inquiry.
